Endless Cookie
In this eccentric animated universe, we meet two half-brothers, Seth and Peter, who’ve set out to make a film. We find ourselves on the Shamattawa Reservation in Canada, where the country’s largest First Nation communities, the Cree — to which Peter belongs — has a strong presence. Real audio recordings between the brothers take us from one absurd story to the next.
If you think you now understand what kind of film this is, think again. This is a world of digressions, where the conversation is constantly interrupted by family members around them; children, relatives and their countless dogs often appear out of the blue. It makes for a fun and surprising film narrative.
The film scores high on entertainment and humor, but it also addresses important themes such as racism, colonialism and the justice system. Endless Cookie has been a favorite at several major festivals abroad, including IDFA, Sundance and Annecy, where it won the main award. This animated documentary is truly something special.
