And Still I Sing
Friends Zahra and Sadiqa are both competing to become the first ever winner of the talent show Afghan Star. On their journey towards living the dream, they meet with support from superstar Aryana Saeed, who has multiple fatwas on her head due to her active role as a woman in Afghan society – but everything is at stake when Taliban reclaim control of the country.
And Still I Sing is a portrayal of the enormous courage it takes to be on the forefront of the struggle for societal change as a female public figure in Afghanistan, where the fight for basic rights is often a fight to stay alive. But this is also a fight for solidarity and hope, and the stories of those involved deserve attention from all of us.
The film is screened in collaboration with Kosmorama film festival, who are screening the film in Trondheim the same week.
