Festival themes
The festival was strongly based around themes relating to important human rights issues- we aim to go into depth in each theme through a variety of styles of films and through inclusive debate with inspiring guests. Each theme had a day concentrating on that particular topic (see Programme), so you could come to Parkteatret and immerse yourself in the debate.

Tickets
Tickets cost either 50kr per film, or 100kr for a day pass to all events and films on any one day. See ticket page for more information.

Venue
All screenings and debates were at Parkteatret, Olav Ryes plass in Grünerløkka, with easy access by several trams. More info on Parkteatret here
The only seminar in a different venue was that at 3pm on Thurs 4th, which was at Fafo - Borggate 2b, Oslo

FESTIVAL NEWS

Enemies of the People won a Special Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival last week. We are the next festival to screen this unique film- this Saturday - and to welcome director Rob Lemkin to Oslo.

Burma VJ was nominated for an Oscar the afternoon before our screening. We congratulate the film producers and the Democratic Vocie of Burma.

Yet another international guest confirmed - Manuel Menchón from Spain will be here from the 3rd to the 5th, talking around his film Malta Radio.

We are delighted to say that Lucy Hannon has just been confirmed as a guest - she is reporter in Kenya, and producer of Getting Justice

The catalogue is ready - download it from the Programme page

Get a taster of the great things to come - an early screening of The Yes Men Fix the World on 27th January, Parkteatret

Maina Kiai has booked his ticket, and wil be here from the 2nd to the 7th Feb, Perhaps the top lawyer working with human rights in Kenya, he is bringing his new film Getting Justice- Kenya's Deadly Game of Wait and See to the festival. It is about how to ensure sufficient justice is achieved after the post-election violence in 2008. Maina will be talking at the two screenings - on the 3rd and 6th.

The Nobel Peace Centre has supported us by lending us 100 padded chairs! Those of you who sat through lots of films on the plastic ones last year will appreciate the significance of this.

Bumra VJ was awarded its 40th prize yesterday - time to see it if you haven't, or see it again if you have.

Polly Nash and Andy Worthington have booked their tickets- They will be here from Friday till Sunday. Come and talk Guantanamo with the people who know the prisoners better than almost anyone. And see their brand new film for the first time in Norway - Outside the Law - Stories from Guantanamo

Rob Lemkin is coming too - bringing with him unique stories from Cambodia, when he and Thet Sambath made the film Enemies of the People. An amazing film it captures the admission of Pol Pot's right hand man: Nuon Chea as to why the mass killings of the Khmer Rouge ever took place.

The Ambassador for Human Rights in the Netherlands is coming to Oslo to partake in our closing debate and support the two films Blooming Business and Weapon of War. The Netherlands have a strong documentary tradition, as well as being the home to the International Criminal Court (discussed in the The Reckoning).

Thanks to Erling Borgen for being our first festival patron - he will be participating during the Guantanamo debate, as will Ståle Eskeland, amongst other things.
