Join as a volunteer
The volunteer registration form for 2026 is open.

HUMAN International Documentary Film Festival is Norway’s largest festival for new Norwegian and international documentary films.
The festival has a diverse film program and also offers debates, seminars, theater and conversations in connection with film screenings. We have a particular focus on current social issues and human rights themes.
Our volunteers play an essential role in the running of the festival. We are looking for you who are socially engaged, interested in culture and like to get to know new people.
Why volunteer?
When you volunteer for HUMAN, you are introduced to a dynamic and engaging community. It’s a good opportunity to meet new people who are passionate about similar topics. In addition, the work provides unique insight and experience with the event and culture industry.
As a volunteer, you get:
- Free tickets to optional film screenings
- Festival merch
- Food and drinks during longer shifts
- Certificate that documents your efforts
What can you do as a volunteer?
As a volunteer, you can contribute in several roles. You can, for example, answer questions from the audience, decorate the festival grounds, set up for events, assist with coordinating the festival, help with video and editing, hang posters and hand out programs around the city, or welcome visiting guests to the festival.
We are also looking for super volunteers who can take on some extra responsibility. This requires that you’re more available, both before and during the festival.
You can apply for multiple roles, but please write in the registration form what you would most prefer to work with.
We often have a large number of volunteers, and unfortunately cannot guarantee that you will get a spot, or work in the role you have as your first choice. If you have a friend you would like to work with, you can let us know when applying, and we will try to put you on the same shifts.
How to apply
