In 2018, the festival handed for the first time in its history out the HUMAN Award for Best Norwegian Documentary and The Human Rights Human Wrongs Film Award for Best International Human Rights Documentary.
HUMAN Award 2018
9 Norwegian documentaries competed for the HUMAN Award 2018 and 50.000 NOK given by Bergesenstiftelsen and Stiftelsen Ship-Ring.
Winner: GOLDEN DAWN GIRLS (Norwegian title: Hatets vugge) – directed by Håvard Bustnes and produced by Christian Falch, UpNorth Film.
Honorary Mention: LETTERS– directed by Marte Vold and Jéro Yun, produced by Elisa Fernanda Pirir and Maria Ekerhovd, Mer Film.

International Competition Program 2018
9 international documentaries competed for the Human Rights Human Wrongs Film Award 2018 and 30.000 NOK given by Amnesty International Norway and The Norwegian Helsinki Committee. The two organisations have been close partners to the festival since its beginning. With this award they wish to honor filmmakers’ efforts to raise awareness about pressing human rights issues of an international audience.
