A Song Called Hate
A slightly different Eurovision Song Contest fairy tale in Tel Aviv.
When the anti-capitalist BDSM band Hatari won the Icelandic Eurovision Song Contest in 2019, it was with the intention to travel to Tel Aviv and make strong protests against Israel’s occupation of Palestine. But the complex reality that faces them when they arrive in Israel, and the pressure from the Eurovision system, Palestinians and Israelis, threaten to break the band completely.
In this thriller-like journey into two incredible realities – Eurovision and the occupied Palestine- we follow the increasingly disillusioned band in the whirlwind towards the final.
After the film: Hatari band member Matthías Tryggvi Haraldsson and Palestinian artist Bashar Murad meet the Norwegian artist Pål ‘Moddi’ Knudsen in a talk about activism, art and the occupation.
