This is a strikingly beautiful documentary from nature photographer Vincent Munier, the director behind The Velvet Queen, which triumphed at film festivals in 2021. Where in the previous film Munier was looking for a glimpse of the mythical snow leopard in the mountains of Tibet, he is now back in Europe in search of another animal, namely the shy capercaillie.

From the deep forests of France to the more homely regions of Trøndelag, this spectacular documentary takes us on a journey into the majestic nature that surrounds us. In this film, Munier takes his father and son hiking in the woods. Three generations go scouting for the capercaillie, this rare and proud bird that seldom reveals itself. Only the whisper between them is allowed to break the peace of the forest.

This is a charming and poetic film that reminds us how amazing our nature is — and why it’s so urgent to take care of it and the animals living in it, before it’s too late.
