Enough is Enough

In wartorn DR Congo, music and dance become a force of resistance.

For decades, armed conflict has been raging in eastern DR Congo, on the border with Rwanda. The background to the cruel fighting is the massive natural resources found here; large quantities of oil, copper, lithium and cobalt, to mention a few. Often it’s the women and children who are most gravely affected in this endless cycle of violence.

When the M23 rebel force took control of the state capital Goma in January 2025, director Elisé Sawasawa picked up his camera. Over the past year, he has fearlessly documented the brutal clashes, which are taking place under the UN’s largest peacekeeping force, MONUSCO. This fierce documentary shows how the director’s friends and the robust population of the country maintain their vitality and express resistance through music, dance and art.

Honoratte Basemake Nabintu Nabuchi Muhanzi er grasrot- og menneskerettighetsaktivist med særlig kompetanse innen sosiale rettigheter, likestilling, inkludering, kjønnsperspektiv og strategisk påvirkningsarbeid. Hun er født og oppvokst i Bukavu i DR Kongo og har vært bosatt i Norge siden 2000.

Hun har utdanning i stats- og administrasjonsvitenskap og har gjennom mange år arbeidet med spørsmål knyttet til integrering, levekår og kvinne- og familiepolitikk. Muhanzi er grunnlegger og leder av organisasjonen Bibi Amka – Kvinne våkn opp, hvor hun arbeider for å styrke kvinners rettigheter, deltakelse og samfunnsinnflytelse.
