A shocking portrait of a strong woman abused as a child by a Catholic priest.

How to stand up for yourself and move on after being sexually abused as a child by a Catholic priest? Mailin finds herself forced to confront the trauma of her past in order to give her own daughter the childhood she never had. This is a heartbreaking story with a strong and honest main character. Mailin’s courageous fight for justice stands in stark contrast to the Catholic Church’s attempts to cover up the scandal.

Together with the film’s director, María Silvia Esteve, Mailin has worked for eight years to make this documentary. It draws on a wealth of archival material, home videos and audio recordings, and shows that the local priest, who was also a family friend, had far more victims than just Mailin. This is a documentary that, with striking visuals and unpleasant sound effects, creates an upsetting and powerful cinematic experience.
