Put Your Soul On Your Hand and Walk
Regi: Sepideh Farsi
This is a raw and deeply emotional testimony from inside the atrocities in Gaza.
Palestinian photojournalist and poet Fatima Hassona documents everyday life under the relentless Israeli attacks on the Palestinian people. For over 200 days, Hassona filmed from Gaza with her mobile phone. It is nothing short of incredible to see Hassona keep her courage up and her inner light alive, despite the immense fear and unfathomable grief surrounding her.
Video conversations between her and the film’s director, Sepideh Farsi, provide a rare insight into human endurance and survival instincts in the darkest of circumstances. This is one of the most powerful documentaries of last year. The day after the documentary was selected for the Cannes Film Festival, Hassona and her family were killed in an Israeli airstrike.
Ten documentaries compete for best Human Rights film, awarded by Amnesty International Norway and The Norwegian Helsinki Committée.
